How can I enter the competition?
Please enter using this online application form.
What is the theme for this year?
The theme is explained in detail on this page.
Do the pictures need to be exclusive?
We're happy to receive images that have been published before, whether online or in a printed publication. We only ask you to clearly indicate this in the submission description.
What do we expect to read in the description of the story?
Each entry must include a piece of written content. We aim at providing real life examples of how organisations can change lives in a positive or negative way. Pictures alone might not be sufficient to describe the context and scale of the story you are documenting. The text should be written in English. As an example, the text could include answers to questions such as: "where is the story taking place?", "what is the issue?", "are there any companies or organisations involved?", "how is this business/organisation affecting the community/environment?", "how could an organisation tackle the issue?", "is a new technology/product solving a problem?", etc.
How will the pictures be selected for exhibition?
We will appoint a jury made up of photography professionals and members of the academic community at LBS who will shortlist eight entries and will select one overall winner. The jury members for the 2019 edition will be announced soon.
What criteria will the jury use to review the entries?
- How well the photos document the story
- Quality of the photos (composition, visual impact, technical execution)
- Relevance of the story to the theme
- Scale and impact of the story presented
Can I visit the exhibition?
The exhibition will be held in May 2019 and it will be open to the public and free of charge.
We will issue free tickets on this page nearer to the date, so subscribe to be the first to hear about the event. If your photos have been shortlisted for exhibition you will be sent an invitation to the award ceremony.
Why did London Business School set up LBS Photography Awards?
The LBS Photography Awards developed organically from our students’ passion for photography and their genuine interest in promoting sustainable businesses. Ultimately, the goal is to set up an inspiring event that will shape the conversation surrounding how doing business affects our society.
